Mixed Tour 3, another chance for me to be wrong again, here are my predictions.
Biggest risers...
(1.) BAF, the host team will want to put right their MT2 result. (seeded 9th)
(2.) Flaming Galahs 1 will be looking to improve upon their seed. (seeded 18th)
(3.) Leamington Lemmings 2 will look to move up a few places towards their first team counterparts. (seeded 39th)
Other notable mentions to Ltd Release and Thundering Herd 2.
Biggest fallers...
(1.) South Coast Ultimate had some great results at MT2, might find it hard going at MT3. (seeded 14th)
(2.) Kent jumped up loads of seeds at MT2, will they be able to hold or improve at MT3? (seeded 11th)
(3.) Staffordshire Oatcakes also had a good MT2, will MT3 be as successful? (seeded 30th)
As ever, these are just total stabs in the dark!

MT2 - The Second Teams
Following my previous blog on second teams, I've taken a look at how they performed last weekend in Weymouth.
From the ten teams that entered second teams into MT1, all but three managed to field second teams into MT2 also. It was Sealand, Lemmings and High Altitude who just took a first team squad, perhaps Weymouth was just too far to travel for some people.
Congrats to Thundering Herd 2 for being the highest placed second team, closely followed by Bear Cavalry 2.
MT2 Finishing Positions:

TD 2 - Thrillson 0
Well, lets take a look at how my 'stab-in-the-dark' predictions worked out last weekend...
1.) Predicted Kent rising from 16th, finished 12th (gained 4 places).
2.) Predicted Gronical Dizziness rising from 8th, finished 9th (dropped 1 place).
3.) Predicted Shakedown rising from 26th, finished 27th (dropped 1 place).
4.) Predicted Sealand falling from 10th, finished 7th (gained 3 places).
5.) Predicted ABH falling from 18th, finished 24th (dropped 6 places).
6.) Predicted Cutty Sharks falling from 30th, finished 33rd (dropped 3 places).
I managed to pick out Kent on the up and ABH falling a bit along with Cutty Sharks, the other half of my predictions however were wrong (as usual!).
Oxford Mixed climbed up the most places (8), although I could (should?!) have predicted this, after a relatively poor MT1 which saw them slide 11 places down the rankings. Fully Charged fell down the rankings the most most places (8).

Mixed Tour Two
Due to phenomenal demand (ok, well one person) I've had another wild stab in the dark at whom may go up the seedings this weekend, and who may slip a place or two.
Moving on up...
Look for Kent to rise a place or two. At MT1 Lemmings knocked them out of the Top 16, but they finished the Sunday strongly to finish as high as they could in 17th.
Gronical Dizziness are the unknown factor this weekend, I understand that they're a dutch team and I'm guessing they're from Groningen. I reckon they'll be tough competition.
A third team I could see rising up a couple of places are Shakedown. The Mixed version of Shake N Bake will be looking to move up from their 26th seed.
Got that sinking feeling...
Judging by the number of emails and messages, it looks like Sealand are short of players for the long trek down to the South coast from Scotland, it's possible they'll drop a place or two.
More plea's for players from ABH, leads me to believe that their second team may slip a place or two from 28th seed.
After a good MT1, Cutty Sharks will be looking to build upon that success, but they've got a few strong teams on their heels, expect them to drop a seed.
As always, this is just for kicks/giggles, and as you'll have seen from my MT1 predictions, you'll probably do better if I pick you for the drop!

Mixed Tour One - Clash of the Second Teams
People rarely write about lower level Ultimate, take a look at the latest edition of Ultimatum; it's pretty much all A-Tour/International. What about the little guys, what about those on second teams?
Well, at MT1 (if you don't count the other Codhand team, were they meant to be evenly split?), the highest performing team was Thundering Herd 2, congratulations to them.
Second Teams Only at MT1, Cardiff 2010
(1.) Thundering Herd 2 - 25th
(2.) Bear Cavalry 2 - 26th
(3.) Flump Fresh - 30th

There are almost two clusters of second teams, one in the late 20's/early 30's and one in the early/mid 40th seeds. TD 1 - Thrillson 0
The MT1 results are out, congrats to Magic Toast on winning the event on their debut.
Without a seeding event, Mixed Tour One was always going to be hard to seed, and the TD has done a great job, much better than I would have. My predictions (read into that, wild guesses!) were pretty far out.
1.) Predicted Brighton Winners, finished 5th (4 places out).
2.) Predicted Steal rising from 36th, finished 38th (dropped 2 places)
3.) Predicted Flyght rising from 44th, finished 45th (dropped 1 place)
4.) Predicted Oxford rising from 27th, finished 35th (dropped 8 places)
5.). Predicted EMu falling from 9th, finished 20th/DNF (dropped 11 places due to dropping out)
6.) Predicted Fugazees falling from 30th, finished 24th (gained 6 places)
7.) Predicted Free Hugs falling from 46th, finished 48th (dropped 2 places)
So, we can conclude that I'm pretty much terrible at predicting results! Fair play to Fugazees for proving me wrong and getting a highly credible 24th place.

Mixed Tour One
I'm looking forward to MT1 in Cardiff this weekend now.
Not only is it one of my favourite venues, but we're staying in a hotel this year, with a pool/spa/sauna etc.
Anyways, the schedule was released an hour ago, and there are quite a few teams this year. Looks like the TD's have done a good job with the seedings, and from what little I know, they look pretty good. Just for S&Giggles, I thought I'd take a stab at the biggest movers, groovers and losers (take no offence at my lame and most probably drastically inaccurate predictions!).
I know that Codhand have been on a massive recruitment drive in the off-season and have been training hard, but with their teams seeded at #1 and #3 it suggests they've split them evenly, rather than a firsts and seconds, will this give the others a sniff of the trophy? My prediction is yes, and a well trained Brighton team getting prepped for Worlds will take the title.
Rising up the ranks will be...
1.) Sheffield Steal - 36th looks quite low down for this generally good team
2.) Flyght Club - I know they've been training hard, see them gain several places from 44th
3.) Oxford Mixed - Will finish higher than their 27th seed
Falling a few places will be...
1.) EMu - a new exec drafted in this year, seeded 9th, will they be as good as EMu we saw at Euros?
2.) Fugazees - losing players to the new Golden Ants team, will they have the squad depth to keep 30th seed?
3.) Free Hugs - 46th (out of 48th) but will drop two places if they're unable to field a team (good luck with the last minute recruitment!).
UPDATE: Just had it pointed out to be that Strange Blue came 16th at the only MT they entered last year, and are seeded 31st this year, expect them to fly up the rankings also!

A Busy Weekend
There are at least four tournaments this weekend throughout the UK, all indoors ones. I must confess I'm looking forward to getting outdoors with Mixed Tour 1 at the end of this month, but until then, I'll make the most of indoors.
The first tournament is the Lemmings Luau, first because it was entered onto the UK Ultimate calendar first. It two one-day tournaments held in Coventry hosted by James Selley of the Leamington Lemmings. The Sunday is for Open and Experienced players, and the Saturday is for Beginners, Women and Juniors.
Speaking of Juniors, its the National Junior Indoor Championships this weekend in Wolverhampton. TD's by Vaughan, it'll see the current crop of young frisbee players compete to be crowned National Champions.
Down in the Wezcountry is High Octane, it'll be held at the Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter (that's where I learned to swim, damn straight). JB and Afro Peat are running the show with this one.
The other tournament this weekend is in a whole different country. Senseless '10 in Bangor gets props for the best tournament name (put the place name before the tournament name) . TD for this one is Paddy.
